The phrase tickled pink means someone is feeling very good due to a happy experience. The good thing that has happened to them has made them feel they are going up in the world; this is what the creatures in this work are doing, going up. They get bigger and bigger, as many things can get bigger in our lives when we are tickled pink. A salary increase, a new baby, passing an exam, a new house, a great holiday, etc.., all these kinds of good occurrences can make our lives feel bigger and better. Tickled pink.

Nicolas Grahame Young ( born 1952 ) , won the Sussex Open American Express art prize , at Brighton museum ( UK ) , in 1998 . He was considered , in the words of the judges , the " least derivative " entrant . His work is a unique mixture of abstract surrealism and biomorphism ; he has always been interested in shape and colour , and the tension between nature and the world made by mankind . Young doesn't mind whatever interpretation viewers have of the paintings , as long as they find them stimulating , and hopefully see something different every time they look at them .
